Yet Another Nonsense

Hate is a feeling from your heart that comes when you are in a pitch. A feeling of yours over something that you feel cannot be reached. An overwhelming feeling that comes when suddenly that precious is taken from you. Despair is a state where you stop trying. Love is a feeling of wanting someone, according to others. Heck, how should I know? Pride is a feeling of protecting one's existence. It's a self-defense mechanism from being volatile. Smile is an expression of a heart or a decoration of your wound. It is there to stop people from asking and to play the role of a happy person. Thinking is a result of your processing unit. It's like a ultra mambo jambo mandlebrot equation that it grows exponentially yet at the big scene forms a great painting of life. Afraid is a self-defense mechanism of traumatic people. It is actually a heuristic value to determine what to choose next step. Simply put those value away from equation is insane. What you have to do is work out to find...

Justification of IT Strategy

This is a reply to Feha in How to Profit comment. I've decide to make it as a new post, since this is a good topic of IT Strategy. Sorry for non IT, some of the terms here you must google it for yourself. Please comment if you disagree or wants to add something, any comment other than SPAM is welcome. --- Yeah, IT does have a tricky part when it comes to justification. But, it is not just FOSS, but also the propetary too. There is no silver bullet to it, as the world also learning. Of course, we are talking about non IT-based company, a company that runs other business than IT that use IT infrastructure. Let's take email infrastructure as an example to understand what I mean. For instance, it is hard to justify an anti-spam solution for a corporate. One might find the equation is to measure the level of spam with and without it. But, that's naive. It would make the anti-spam solution somewhat is under value. Anti-spam companies then again modify the solution to put these: C...

Qt anyone?

Okay, KDE 4.2 is the reason why I'm trying to convert. Recently, I have been programming with Swing as GUI platform. Yeah, I'm the generation that grew up with Java. But, as we have el cheapo machines and tight budget (yeah, love it when it comes to budgeting that we must think harder), we would reconsider using Java. I have moved to SWT and growing fondly with its ability to embed browser into its platform. Then again, I love to hear about Qt. It manage to have WebKit in their arsenal. It even have the revolution that it would embed in Nokia's device. (Hey, I'm using Sony Ericsson here) It would bring much better new possibilities. Waiting for 4.5 by the way. So, where should I start? C++ is a b*tch that I don't take since programming OpenGL long ago in my Computer Graphics class. I'd prefer plain C than that C++. But, hey, they say stop learning is a dying process. Besides, the toolkit (oh, I mean Qt) has a new editor and also an Eclipse plugin. Enough saying,...

How To Profit From Free/Open Source Software (FOSS)

This writting is inspired by [RANT] that being pointed out by [ANTA] To begin with, the meaning of profit is not money (though in the ends it counts). Profit is a net gain that you have after doing something painful. In better term, profit is something that you achieve after you sacrifice. No pain, no gain! Many IT guys/girls out there sprouting bad about FOSS and its gain in the term of competition. They would argue that it lack of common sense and it even have so many choices that it scares people away by having a deep thought of what should be implemented. Yes, the "all I want is to do the job done" argument making FOSS looks like a geek toys than a silver bullet. The only real reason why people would want to move to FOSS is because of legal aspect. They're forced to have a steep learning curve. But, hey, what if there is other reason that you could have when deciding to move into FOSS solution? First, we begin with the misconception of asking: What is your Business Pr...

Decoupling Your System

You could google about the definition of decoupling, [GGL] but let's take it from my perspective. Decoupling is a process to make each part more independent. This is a process that modularize your system. As any algorithm in this world, it has many weaknesses. So, let me summarize it for you: #1 Architecture Overhaul Architecture overhaul can become tricky if it means of changing a big API. Take Linux kernel as an example, each minor release take major interface change that makes specific driver are not compatible. But then again, this argument can be broken by the way of Linux kernel is developed: monolithic. No wonder it can have so many modules tightly coupled. Even so, a proper way of making modularity and system planning, can make architecture overhaul is nothing -- yeah, it still costs you something, e.g. money. Pay attention to intermediary services. It is often what ever changing beneath will not so much cost you, but when you change the way of any subpart communication, it...

[Spoiler] of Apa Yang Kurang?

Yes, yes, I know it's a post without a body. But, it holds dearly to something. Okay, I forgot not put deep mind tag to it or else people will starts to put thinking about it. Anyway, like an art or any philosophical stand point, one must describe what to tell. Let's begin with a definition of blog. What is a blog? Well, from the definition, obviously blog is an online journal. It's, as the name suggested Web Log, is a collection of personal thought of a person over something. Evenmore as it evolved, it is refined as a collection of writings that have personality on it, even if it is a corporate blog. The different of a blog than a news entry is the mixture of personal feeling in the writing. So, no matter how objective you are, in a blog entry there is an urge to have your personal entry. When we look on the technical note, the first use of blog is a way to capture tacit knowledge and documentized it into external knowledge. It is a way more convinient to capture one's...

God's Little Prank

There were times in life you felt like deserted and you felt like the world caved in around you. Everything became nuisance and you f*cked up. Felt like the whole live that you journeyed had no end and you couldn't sought the light. Adding to the worst part where no friends were there when they were needed the most. Heavy. Wished that you didn't in the position you were... No way to run. Wished that you had wings to take you to another place, wished you were someone else. In the end. You surrendered and turned out that everything were alright. In an instant, everything were possible. Boom! Miracle happened! Welcome to God's candid camera. You've been pwnd. :P

Dear SEO Guru

There is a small problem, when you google "Universitas Indonesia", you would not find www.ui.ac.id in the search result. From the temporary investigation, we didn't find that the domain is being banned or something like that. Is there any reason? On the positive note, the first result was penerimaan.ui.ac.id , which is an online registration for anyone who would join UI. Anyway, to those that will take UI's exam this Sunday, have a good faith. :D

Copyrighted?

There is an irony said that bloggers put tag "blog is an intellectual property" without paying attention to what its mean. No, not that I'm saying that blogger uses pirated version of the software while typing it -- it would be interesting but I'm into that. But, because what of their saying is not foolproof. How would you protect your blog content from being copied? How would you fight plagiarism? I'm not a lawyer, thus some of my arguments here not valid. Do not hesitate to comment, i.e. CMIIW. First, do you license your writings? If you don't license your writing, people can have it as a public domain. The only thing that get them not to abuse such is because of academic ethics. Still, it doesn't make your writing protected. Second, does copyright protects you? In some countries, yes. Many, maybe. Third, does it matter? .... (maybe) to be continued ~malesNulisModeOn

Monk Moniker Monzy of Sex

As seen on TV, there are so many sexual intercourse in Indonesia right now that it is so alarming to many of us. For the religious, it is said to be what of the end of the world. For the liberalist, it is said that people who not properly know what they are doing are endangered themselves with deseases such as AIDS. No, not that sex is prohibited, but both have different approach on it. For Vaticans, it is a sinful act to endorse the use of condom and that made them sinister to the liberalist. But, it is also the liberalist that clouded their mind with freedom of life. Vatican, like other Abrahamaic religions, uses different approach. To them, marriage is the divine setting to have safe sexual intercourse, not condoms. If condom were endorsed, then it would like the religion permit sexual intercourse without marriage. So, it is on a good purpose. But, sex is so powerful that many seeks to its present. For religious, it is called temptation and for the liberalist seen as the human most ...

A New Light of Kernel

After the resignation two of my kernel heroes, Con Kolivas and Hans Reiser, I've stopped following Linux kernel changelog. The thing was, I didn't think anything special would came from the kernel and yes there wasn't. If you noticed after the lost, innovations that came from outside Linux kernel was diminished. Before kernel 2.6.21, there was so many (alright, few maybe) kernel patches out there that grown with ideas such as Suspend from Disk, Xen, SD (was a rewrite from Staircase) scheduler, Reiser4, Memory Swappiness, and many tweaks. Hmm... I don't like to remember any of them now, because it's hurt to do it with the trolling and negative comments between devs. Anyway, ReiserFS still my fave until now but it is getting old and old. With the avaibility of size, new technologies around and, especially, with the impression of ReiserFS is set to be deprecated I am getting anxious of its future. Of course, officially they don't but it seems like after the impris...

WATCH OUT!

If you're aware, recently a big ISP have been shut down because it allowed its user to send spam. Because of the closing, spam been have dropped about 40~70% all around the world. But, if you aware, google also been hack recently and there are increased number of spams going in from my personal mail hosted in GMail (well, it's a mailling list anyway). There's something going on to Yahoo! as well and I think they want to attack Yahoo! also. The mailserver also been flooded with attacks recently from outside, this taught me a valuable lesson: SASL is not that save! Just like China's Great Wall, crumbled because of the bad management of the user. You can build a Citadel in your mail appliance, but it still not safe if your user not that precautious. In fact, transparent to user is no longer true to the email safety. Security is not that comfortable! They must know how to secure their login. Now, they need to know that many spammers want to fish their login and password. T...

Need A New Cell Phone

My current cell phone really made me an a**hole. It hung often and died randomly. Sometimes, it even made me unreachable for days. The battery leaked and the charger was hard to find in stores. Oh, well, 5+ years of dedication according to Moore Law is justified for an infrastructure upgrade. Okay people, I don't have a knowledge about cell phone. My Sony Ericsson Z600 is a fantastic cell phone with comfortable keypad and I hope the new one could also have the same feature. Okay, to make it fast, this is what I want from the phone: A must: 1. Comfortable keypad to answer SMS. 2. Can imported all of my contact list. 3. Clamshell. A desire: 1. I can run ssh it. (Okay, too much maybe?) 2. A camera. (No, actually I don't need it, am I?) 3. Bluetooth. 4. GPRS/3G. (I have IM2, so this is not really a wish) An added value (which I am really consider and would choose): 1. Have development platform and kit. (Can hack into it?) What would you recommend?

For 5 Sic? Se7en!

Makanya, gw bersyukur banget waktu Laksamana Sukardi menjual aset-aset BUMN. Liat, tuh, Indosat, andai kata masih dipegang sama negara...

Seriously, Guys...

We need to educate every ICT person in Indonesia about Usability and Design. Background of my ranting: I am glad that I have NPWP now, which made me a good citizen. The thing is, I don't know what to do with it. My friend said that I should fill SPT. What the heck is that? So, as his recomendation, I went to [PAJAK] to get to know what I should do. There are 2 big flaws that I found about the website: The website uses Flash and lots of images. WTF? Did they think all Indonesian citizen have enough bandwith? Even here in Jakarta we still have people with 14.4 K b ps modem. It uses javascript. Those people expecting all of Indonesian citizen have HD LCDs, quadcores CPUs, and many RAMs to waste? Heck, even here in UI we still have old Pentium up and running with happy IE4/5. It doesn't show crutial information as the name of the website suggests: PAJAK/TAX . As a new tax payer, I don't know how to do and it doesn't have any FAQ about tax payer. [Heck, they don't teac...

One Way To Spell

What is a human life form? What is the very sense of human basic needs? No. I will not begin it with any philosophy stuff nor try to say reasons nor to analyze things. I don't think any of that thing will nail on the purpose. I just think the thing is you are worn out . Why? Simply because of your trying to self fulfill yourself without knowing what is actually that you really need. Stop right now and look around. I will not say that your life is beautiful for sometimes you may now in a pinch. I will not say that you are the type of people who endures for there are times that you may loose to your anger. I will not say there are people who cares for you for there are many bitching around. All I have in mind is to tell you that: YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE HAPPY How to choose that? ... Partai "/dev/null"

Gw pikir gw ud sehat ternyata.... Rencananya mo ikutan wisudaan adek gw yang lolos jadi wisudawan FE. Sampe Balairung eh, gw malah mo muntah-muntah mabok perjalananan. Yasu, disuruh istirahat di kantor ehm.. rumah. Sebenernya dokternya juga kayak ragu-ragu gitu sih. Bokap juga bilang tunggu 2 atau 3 hari lagi. Tapi emang gw yang ngebet pengen pulang. Well, gonna be a lengthy post but I just want to express why...

Yet Another Postingan Nyampah

Sepertinya aroma CGT memanggil kembali jiwa seni, mana nih Jombi??? Ah, untung ada The PePeSIkan. Anyway, sungguh menyedihkan kondisi kita sekarang, tragis bener lagu-lagu jaman sekarang kebanting sama lagu-lagu dulu. Eh, beneran, gw ngerasa standar musik kita menurun. GEBLEK! Bahkan akhir-akhir ini gw mulai mempertimbangkan Sheila On 7? OMGWTF? Mereka terpengaruh musik Brit. Tapi gak separah Nidji dan J-Rock yang, oh, well, so Cold Play dan Laruku banget. Lagu baru Bang Oma juga norak, gitu-gitu a...

Blogger In Silence

Been infected by dengue , I can't go anywhere. Just, keep in bed and taking my blood examined everyday (damn, my hand just like a drug user). Well, before I'm getting passed out, here a link: http://gwolf.org/blog/about-recent-events-and-possible-outcomes-israel-and-palestine It's a great post by a Jewish DD (Debian Developer). Truly, many more like him and middle east will be at peace and we stop hating Jewish or Hamash or whatever-you-can-hate-of. From that post, you can see that many of the things that happen in this world are truly beyond simple matters. It is complicated by beliefs that installed from the childhood of man (and woman). Imagine if you are a zionist and everyday your parents, neighbours would call "To Jerusalem" to you. Imagine if you are a Palestinian who live under the hood and your leader always telling you that Isreali take away your land. So, the point taken to... I know that each sides have been hurted, and religions just screw things up. ...

Installing Debian On ACER Altos 1200

Fiuh... one machine conquered! I will not discuss about the fiddling, struggling, and meddling parts (hmm... maybe just a 'little'), but let's take a look what's the insight. I've got a funky machine, ACER Altos 1200 with the following specs: - Memory 1536 MB - RAID Controller AccelleRAID 362 - 6 SCSI [8,8,8,8,34,34] in RAIDs (1+0, 1). - 2 Proc Pentium III This thing made any debian based Installer (Etch and Hardy) failed to boot, rebooted with no reason. The machine didn't even bother to recognize OpenSolaris CD. At first, I was thinking it was because of the VGA (Mach64) didn't do well. So, I did the "vga=771" option which resulted without luck. I even put off ACPI with "acpi=0ff", "noacpi", and "nolapic" combinations. The problem was reproducible with different CDs and distros, so it was highly that this wasn't a CD problem. Knoppix also could boot although with a glitch about sometimes it only had one penguin...

Miss Few Things

Hmm.. blogging while deadline. Yep, there's nothing than the ol' way of ditching responsibility with blogging. Stress! Why do we have representative in Senayan when they aren't? For the sake of few, they like to pissing off. Never have been in my life I've struggle with the idea of Indonesia. I have been the type of person who love this country so much that I endure to do anything what I think is best for this country. I have never felt not belong in this country. Those *tard, they can only have sex and bling-bling just like rappers. Hammas don't admit Israel independence. Hammas rocketing Israel for two consecutive weeks, Israel angry and strikes back. Hammas only have militia attacking from civilian area, so how Israel suppose to fight back? Fattah is the real deal, but they don't win the election. After Yasser passed away, they don't have enough ground as majority and often have different view with Hammas, so they can only watch and lobbying. Why can'...
