WE PRAY - Coldplay, Elyanna, Little Simz, Burna Boy, TINI

The song is about how we fight for the better world and winning the battle inside of our mind. The most respect for me is coming from a line: ... And so we pray we'll be singing Baraye... Baraye is a song about women's right. No, it's a song about extreme feminism. It's a song about to view a women as humane as a man. I didn't know the song nor the history behind it. Reading through the Internet I was fascinated by it. It's amazing how Coldplay can attract the world to the issue just by that one line. This makes me respect Coldplay more.

A Witch Hunt Gone Wrong

pikamee... pic.twitter.com/NIBfx59D1x — Banned Vtuber Memes (@bannedvtmemes) February 21, 2023 Pikamee, a vtuber was deciding to stop her character for vtubing in 31st March . Her last stream was playing Hogwarts Legacy. This game was gaining notoriety because the J.K. Rowling, a creator of Harry Potter, was making a transphobic statement . Because of this statement, many twittards witch hunting many content creators who playing Hogwarts Legacy. Pikamee and her company said that the graduation was planned. She had taken a one-month break before making the decision. However, this graduation made her fans enraged. Her fans understand that she was a bullying victim in the past when she was still a child in school. They don't believe that statement, instead they know this is because of the witch hunt. Some of the fans fight back. The whole trans community is now being accused of a bully who don't want to get bullied back. A bully who thinks oneself as a victim. *Sigh* I love Jes...

Suisei on First Take

A Vtuber by the name Hoshimachi Suisei made a breakthrough by singing in First Take. She was the first Vtuber featured on a "normal" music channel. I don't know about First Take, thought.  The First Take is apparently a music channel respected by the Japanese music industry.  According to its description, artist featured on the music channel will be singing live without filter. It seems this is similar to the respectable NPR's Tiny Desk Concert. A raw, unadulterated, performance. Some people find it weird with an anime character singing without showing the real artist face. I don't think this is weird. Do you remember Gorillaz ? They did it back then. As a virtual band, they already in the music scene with their own avatar. That's why, I don't think the artist goes by an anime avatar known as Hoshimachi Suisei is weird. I mean art is weird, so be it! There is nothing wrong with going through the vtubing route. Regarding the performance, I do like it. If I...

Zombie Among Us

It has been two years I work from home. In that time, 90+% of my time was spent on homes. Yes, I'm one of the scared ones. I was once a sceptic. However, many of my close relatives died. I then reassessed my beliefs about Covid-19. I was scared because the number of my close relatives made me think that our genes were on the vulnerable side against covid-19. However, many people survived from the virus.  There were reasons why they survived.  The original variants was weak. Only after the Delta, the virus became deadlier. Some people had the best fit. At the time they were contracted, their body could handle the infection. They were lucky. Some people that lost their jobs tried to deny the virus.  Some crazy zealots tried to persuade their people by watering down the covid-19. They enforced the belief that God was more powerful than covid-19.  Hah! Did they not think that God was letting the virus out? Did they think God not powerful enough to close the floodgate? I ...

CCM

Photo by Luis Quintero from Pexels I'm interested in writing this post because of Adam Neely YouTube video about Contemporary Christian Music or CCM. Adam hated the CCM nowadays and he's not alone. Josh Keefe video already done that also and keep pointing the problem. First of all, I kind of reluctant writing this. I'm a Church musician and have certain disagreements with few people from other denomination in the past. I'm afraid to desecrated music that being served as sacrifice to God. These people condemns modern worship music. They said that Hymnal songs are the legit worship song and these modern fakes weren't. I'm afraid to write them off as my temper would draw me condemning the Hymns. Fortunately, I recently found that these guys are a part of extreme Calvinist reformed. They are anti-Armenian and took a hard stance in pro-predetermination. Not just that, they recently take it too far by condemning other Church denominations. Their...

Covid-19

There is a new variant of Corona virus called Covid-19. This time it beats every Corona virus that already exist, e.g. Influenza, Ebola, Sara and Mers combined in fame. Everyone in all countries panicked. In Indonesia, panic buying made mask and hand sanitizer gone. Some food ingredients gone or have skyrocketed price. Now on every building in Jakarta, the security also check the body temperature of each person that goes in. People also used mask everywhere. Which according to Singapore's spokeperson not necessary. You put mask if you are sick. The sad thing is, people started prejudice against Chinese person. This is because the epidemic was discovered from Wuhan, China. Blah! When SARS showed up, people just chill. I mean, at the time, many chicken farmers burned their chicken. It was more impactful and more dangerous than Covid-19, but we chilled. Why aren't we now? From the statistics, Covid-19 would probably killed most whom at the age of 50 or more. And ...

Praise and Worship Songs

As a Pentecost, I get a lot of critics from many preachers about how we sing our songs. These people, usually Lutheran people, criticising us for using contemporary band in our place of worship. They said, our worship is not legit. It is only for entertainment only, not worship. For background, in Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) music, we usually have bands and one singer as a Worship Leader. This singer have the most voice out of all. Plus, the lights, the environment and the big projector making the church looks like a concert. What's wrong with the concert look? What's so sacred about a liturgy? It isn't in the Bible. I mean, if you want to stick with the correct liturgy, then you should follow Didache . That's the authoritative source for the liturgy. It is a book straight from the Apostle's era. I don't see any of those protester using that. If we look into the Moses time, the Israelite worship God with dancing and singing. In that time, God didn...

Free Speech

This site is not dead yet. But, I'm more hesitant to talk and publish the entries. Indonesia is more sensitive than before. I see sometimes gives "you-know-who" info that obfuscated to the public. I don't want to start a polemic. Jokowi was elected as a president without any back up from any senior parties. He is like a startup company disrupting status quo. This also comes with a price, he have a weak leg in Indonesian politics. Sadly, because of that, he comes to the Generals. Thus, you see names of former-military heads on his cabinets. More over, his former-military ministries had red mark some Human Right issues list. Hmm... may be. I'll just write spiritual messages? Lol.

Madness in New Zealand Shooting

A man in 16th March 2019 came to a Mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand (NZ). He shot randomly and killed 49 people and injured many. And the story goes on. You can read the news. But, what I've observed is this: many of my Moslem friends called this an equality. While they are complimenting the NZ PM and her actions, they are also lamenting that the shooting was called "shooting", not "terrorism" immediately by many Western outlet. It was different when a Moslem done the deed. Fortunately, after the NZ PM called this a terrorism, many began using "Terrorism" in their news. I think this point a little bit fair. Perhaps, the Media waiting for the NZ government to verify what type of things happen. A right wing politician in Australia was also blaming the Moslem immigration over this accident. He raised a boy to be a hero to many because of it. The boy poked an egg to his head . With this, the boy statement is clear that people, even the Caucasian ...

Perspectives and Fear

Black Panther is an ongoing film with so many things to discuss. People often talks about Black movement et cetera. I find it interesting to dissect the characters, especially the lead and the antagonist. T'Challa T'Challa was an African descent. Raised in the protective world of Wakanda. As a Wakandan, he was born with the original environment. He would only see every other African tribes as his neighbour. It is natural that he would have a view like the view of a Scotsman would to an Englishman. He would feel distinctive between his five tribes with the Zulu and the Ethiopian. They are not being viewed as brothers, but as neighbors that could possess national threat. For me in Indonesia, it is like Indonesian and Malaysian would feel at each other. Both country would sometimes bring national issue and try to be hostiled at each other. We would feel that we inherit different cultures. The language, national anthem and so on is different. While at it, Indonesian was free ...

Trumpocalypse

At Wednesday, Trump making a statement that US acknowledge Jerusalem as a capital of Israel. To support his decision, he also moving US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. This sparks many retorts around the globe. Why must Trump administration makes it even harder all the rest of the Christian communities around the world?  I know that Trump is trying to please his domestic friends. He wanted to please some Christian evangelisms. He also wanted some Jewish organizations. Apparently, this is also one of his campaign commitment at the election. I wrote this post after watching Phil's video about Trump's decision. I read the comment sections and saw even many Jews that live there also not liking his decision. Even in the US, not all of the Jewish organization support this. As a Christian live in another country, I can only say that what Trump's doing is only to please few domestic evangelism. In doing so, he put me and other Christians in danger of persecution...

Coco

The media wrote about China letting Coco be released on its theaters. The one reason is because of the family and ancestor tradition that the Chinese and Latino share as a common theme. Coco promotes family value and the gist of balancing dreams and family. Based on China's censorship guide, the movie should've been banned because of ghosts.   Well, actually China could flame international incident if Coco banned from mainland. I mean, come on, this movie has the heart of many Mexicans in it. A ban would sour Latino community at least. This movie researched well by the movie maker .

Victim

This is an old unpublished article. Since the election already over, I'd like to publish this. Considering my friend is already cooled down and the issues was resolved with the capture of Ahok. --- A friend of mine wrote this at his Facebook status: Roughly he said: "So, more non-Muslim friends feels like they understand more about Islam. We, the Muslims, have to ask our Imam, and [you] need to know that not every imam dare to interpret, [we] even need to ask to imam that have more understanding in religion.. How great you are could interpret it on your own.  If someone get pissed, sorry that's my intention, it's better we deepen our own religion instead, and give what best accordingly." This statement made my blood boiled, at first. There were many things I wanted to say about him. Still, I respected him. Instead of writing those complaints on his wall to potentially shaming him, I wrote those here. First, he used Bible verse freely in the pa...

Al Maidah 51

This article written long time ago. Because the issue already resolved by imprisoning the late governor (Ahok), I think publishing this would still considered  ---- A viral went nuts here: The title said: Ahok: Anda Dibohongi Alqur'an Surat Al-Maidah 51 which translated as: Ahok: You are being lied by Quran's Al Maidah 51. Interestingly, the actual line actually said: "... Bapak Ibu nggak bisa pilih saya; dibohongin pake Surat Al Maidah 51 macem-macem itu...." which in English said: "... you all can't choose me; being lied using Surah Al Maidah 51 and so on." The full video: And the context started at 24:14 "... Jadi jangan percaya sama orang, 'Kan bisa aja dari hati kecil Bapak Ibu nggak bisa pilih saya. Dibohongin pake Surat Al Maidah 51 macem-macem itu..."  Which in English said: "... So don't trust just anyone. It is possible from the bottom of your heart that you all can't elect me. Being...

Unpublished Posts

I'm not abandoning this site. There are many articles I've written since the last article that still unpublished. The nature of those articles were about rants. The problem is that all of my articles containing comments about religion. Should I release them all? I don't want to anger anyone. This site was only here to release my stress. So, I wrote anything in my mind at the moment. Oh, well, there are 120 articles left unpublished. Still undecided.

Rohingya Revisited

I thought since my last post people of the world (UN, ASEAN, etc.) had already progressing against this apartheid schemes. Well, I know that in ASEAN apartheid is not just exclusive to Burma. It is a complicated story that was built upon years of bloodshed and political struggles. Have a friend or two who work passionately in NGOs and you'll know what I mean. Or, you could be that one friend. I can't disclose any of those apartheid schemes here because it might impact their good works or the people within those government bodies that want to change things up. Hate is a good tool to improve people's support. It plays well to sooth anxiety in people's heart.  Trump already prove that. Everyone, including me, is a racist. I too once think of Indian with bad attitude. Their fast talk, their stinking body and how pushy they were to me made my anxiety. Along the way, I met many more good (and great) Indians. Now, I am not even ashamed learning from them. Assholes...

Indonesian Christianity and LGBT

PGI, Persekutuan Gereja-gereja di Indonesia, Communion of Churches in Indonesia, made a Pastoral statement about LGBT. In its statement, PGI recommended all Indonesian churches to accept LGBT as normal people. Families should embrace their family members that was LGBT. It recommended churches to accept people that came out. It also recommended to put LGBT away from being label as a sickness. Then, at last, it recommended LGBT as a part of Christian faith. What a bold move! There were many people voice their objections. Mangapul Sagala claimed that the leader of PGI had a moral deviation. He also assumed that was why they move the Grand Meeting sooner. DR. Andik made an open statement against that Pastoral message. What about me? There is a part of me calling for political correctness. To accept them as a member of family or society is a must. I also have gay friends and they are normal to me. But, when in church, that's where a line should be drawn. Romans 1:24-27 exp...

Kumbayah

WARNING: This writing is the reflection of my knowledge and perception. It will absolutely contains my opinion. Some subjects may be uncomfortable for you to read as this writing explains things from many expert views which may not conform to your faith. You may disagree, but this is my honest opinion of what I've known so far.   Some people think "kumbayah" was a word lend from Africa. That's why there are people who would think twice to sing "Kumbayah, My Lord". They suspect "Kumbayah" is a name for an unknown African Idol. They don't want to call their God a name registered for other deity. As a Christian, I too asked myself, "what is the proper name of our God?" Christianity which derived from Judaism borrows many names for calling God. And from the Old Testament, we also know that even the Israelites call God with different name. Some name like Elohim was a name borrowed from a word of Canaanites for the Supr...

[Christianity] Stratagems of Honest People

Jesus told his disciples that they are lambs sent into the midst of wolves. Therefore, they have to be shrewd like snakes and as innocent as doves. (Matthew 10:16 NIV). How could you put two clashing concepts together? Is this a passage to have a reason for Christians having white lies? Are Christians eligible to lie? We often associate shrewd with a derogatory meaning. We often deliberately think of it as taking treacherous acts, manipulative and poisonous. But, that's not what Jesus meant. As a clue also on Matthew, Jesus said this before, "All you need to say is simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one." (Matthew 5:37 NIV) A white lie is a lie and it belongs to the evil, not God's! God not need a strategy of his arch-nemesis. He don't need our help. He loves our devotions as an offering and lie isn't one of it. What Jesus meant was what New King James Version (NKJV) used as a term to serve the mean...

Voice Your Voice!

The video was about 26th year old wife protesting her husband practising polygamy. It was not an easy task for people to raise awareness. Not when the thing that being protested was something cultural. It was getting harder when the problem sometimes entangled with religion. There were things that made people uncomfortable when confronting such issue. Some people scared of what they did would inflict God's wrath. Some people unconsciously tried to defend their existence embodied in their deep rooted culture. Some felt that it was unnecessary to open the stinks out in the open. I'm not eligible to talk about the issue because I'm not a Moslem. I brought this up because issues like this not belong exclusively in Islam. They also exist in many ancient religions including Christianity. What I want to talk about is how we can start a positive discussion about these kind of sensitive matters. Culture vs Religion People often forget that sometimes parts of their religious a...
