You Are A Miracle

God can makes miracle. Jesus can walk on water. He can turns water into wine. He can makes the limp walks.  To me, those are not miracles. Those are not of my world. Sorry, but can I relate if that's not something happening in my life? Don't worry, I'm a believer now. You are the convincing reason that makes me believe that God's exists. I have a shoulder to lean on and I believe this is a miracle. When the world caved in on me, you are the thing that God shown what's a save refuge is. When people have their interests. Mine also the same. As such, you are the prove that God's love is real. You stands with me. I can wage the wars on the world. I am taking arms for fighting the better future. My eyes have return their colors. I now believe there is tomorrow. Thank you.

VTuber

Generated from https://creator.nightcafe.studio/creation/2KR1yHqvqHwxXSo3kTbA Currently I'm amazed by a trend to make a podcast with an anime-styled avatar. The phenomenon referred as VTuber  is using a 2.5D style. The avatar is 3D glued on 2D background. Their content usually around singing, playing games, and chat with their viewers. As they do that live, they would connect to live payment method that will display something when people donate. In Indonesia, this culture is called "sawer". A culture that would tip the performer live. That's why, for Indonesian, this Japanese imported scene is not really alien. After I dig deeper, I found out that there are two types of affiliation. The first is a company setup that is called Vtuber Agency. The example of such agency is Maha5 and Hololive. And, to my surprise, there is also the guerilla type that called themselves independent. Personally, I'm not into these Vtubers because their design is not really original. I ...

Zombie Among Us

It has been two years I work from home. In that time, 90+% of my time was spent on homes. Yes, I'm one of the scared ones. I was once a sceptic. However, many of my close relatives died. I then reassessed my beliefs about Covid-19. I was scared because the number of my close relatives made me think that our genes were on the vulnerable side against covid-19. However, many people survived from the virus.  There were reasons why they survived.  The original variants was weak. Only after the Delta, the virus became deadlier. Some people had the best fit. At the time they were contracted, their body could handle the infection. They were lucky. Some people that lost their jobs tried to deny the virus.  Some crazy zealots tried to persuade their people by watering down the covid-19. They enforced the belief that God was more powerful than covid-19.  Hah! Did they not think that God was letting the virus out? Did they think God not powerful enough to close the floodgate? I ...

Bucin

Some of my friends called me a Bucin, Budak Cinta (Slave of Love). It was because I'm no longer in Universitas Indonesia and I'm now working as an office worker on a corporation. I was no longer available freely to any Free/Open Source movements. All of these events was because I married a lovely woman. Well, I don't mind to be called a slave of love. I would prefer to call myself to have another calling. That is to love someone and be there for her. Let's just say, she captured my heart and I now have a new purpose in life.

A Jobless Society

http://news.detik.com/read/2013/11/27/155431/2425309/10/bos-pengemis-rp-25-juta-hanya-beraksi-berdua-di-jaksel Let me tell you the story from the link objectively. The link is about how a beggar boss was caught at Tugu Pancoran, South Jakarta, Indonesia. He was illegally begging for money in a supposed to be a neutral area. He got caught by social worker officers. Apparently, he was carrying 25 million Rupiah with him. Together with his friend, both of them had generated that income in just 15 days. He told the officers that the money was for his pilgrimage. His people in the rural gave him nickname "Haji Walang" while he wasn't done the pilgrimage yet. There, that's the most objectively written story that I can come up with. There is so many negative sentiment about these kind of people. They makes money by roleplaying as sick person and old people. In this case, he is old. He is 55. Walang is his name and Haji is the title to men and women that had complet...

Crushed Other People

Broken people born from mistreatment from other broken people. A psychopathic killer born from abuse. A bad father born from failures. A bad woman born from trauma. You can blame them and nothing's gonna be alright. Or, you could dwell into their stories and find the past that made them this way. I believe choosing the later is the most difficult one. It includes forgiveness and accepting them back. Something that can't be done easily. But, choosing the first comes with an even greater price: it will spread brokenness more. If you see toddlers, there are times when they act rebellious. They harm themselves, destroying what ever properties that lies. They cries so long and loud. They do it because they want to be listened. Now, transform that into adults. The principal is the same, but they are more organized and ferocious. Still, what I said stands: A bad human is a lost and unloved. To choose to love that person is a decision that will save that person and ou...

She Said, He Said

She Said He said Why the two got different responses? The girl pictured as a cute devoted type, whilst the boy is getting tagged with weird tag. A boy with responsible thought would not be considered normal. They say that on olden days women would get menstruation at the age 13 to 15. Nowadays getting shorter to 10 and 12 -- thanks to Colonel Sanders and Uncle Ronald. That hormonal shift may made the culture think that girls grew wiser at the early age. So, this type of thinking is actually normal. Boys would be pictured as cubs playing around before leaving nest. They would dive into the world taking turfs and trying to be alpha. That's why they do stupid things. To experiment their inner self, which would in the end made them wiser. What the main character do here is totally different from what we, the culture, think about boys. Boys should be silly and full of hormones. They would be a great example of idiots. Well, at least that the culture woul...

Tolerance

Tolerance means one try to restrict oneself because of others with different values. One compromise one's idealism so that one can coexists with other people. With this, we can be in peace. That's the bigger idea. But, what about the real thing? Sometimes, there are people who don't consider others. Should I tolerate these kind of people? When I was on my way to Pondok Cina, I ran into a group of homosexual. The train was a little bit full so I was standing. In front of me there are guys with pink eye shadows. They were cool and I was cool and we didn't bother each other. We just like everyone else, strangers. The trouble comes when in the other side of the cart, a guy sit on the lap of his fellow. The guy on the bottom played his fingers into.... Oh, God! I don't want to remember that horrible sight! I feel disgusted and walked away into other cart. My friend asked me, what if it was heterosexual? I could digest to that. But, it wasn't. It was a man ...

Amanda Todd

From time to time, there will always be bullying happens. Some people would argue that that's the normal process of life. Some even relate them to the way of the world: the stronger consuming the weak. Well, sorry to say that I can say that's baseless. The world is made by the society. What shape them is the agreements that become the norms. If we agree to get better, then the world will get better. The world will be a better place. But why seems there are people who oppose to the idea of it? I can only say that many people have different insights of how to live their lives. There are some that take spiritual causes such as God as their guidance and some people gather knowledge as their utmost defense. Among that we believe in, there are also ego, hatred and self-acceptance. Ego, the basic desire of human beings to have a meaningful existence. Hatred, the basic defense to have distrust to protect your existence. The most of it is self-acceptance, which means the way y...

Immature Me Being Grow Up

I have watched two of the Elder's React from React Series by Fine Bros. The first episode was about Nyan Cat and the second one is about Dubstep. I love how they react to those things. They teach me how immature I am and try to learn to their wisdom. Being an older person is not a tool to justify your act of bullying someone's preference that different from you. Being older means you have seen adversities of the world. You've seen different things from different point of view. Being older means you have already master the skill to accept differences and encourage them to be true to themselves. Being older means you have the wisdom to think in someone's shoe first. I need to learn these things and learn to respect people more.

Things Left Unsaid

What's the best men's biggest source of scar? Their pride which blanket their awkwardness. Being built with high hopes and expectation, something within self-centered consciousness is bleeding. Yet, nobody would recognize it because he too damn proud to show it. Missing someone's birthday. Want to apologize but the event is already in the past. The person's not someone who close enough that it would feel awkward to say sorry to. But, still, the thought of resentment is strong and lingering. Trying to buy a present to someone. Instead of getting compliments, the men getting ill thought from everyone else.  The plan backfired. What can we do? Sometimes we have a self-righteous, but unfortunately, others are not trying to understand. We thought everybody would be like Oshin, obedience to her husband and try to accept the men's decision. Trying to be an honest person. The stake is too high. People would infuse with other idealism. Especially, the persons call...

Facebook Parenting, Parents and Kids and Teh Internet

I've watched "Facebook Parenting: for the troubled teen for a long time. But, an article by Forbes  discussing a parody version by Barely Political made me took a moment to think this seriously. This problem is deep. At first, I don't take this seriously because I don't think it is possible to have college while having senior at school. But, after a little searching, I found out that it is indeed possible in US, especially in suburban and community college . He isn't bluffing! That program is especially made for children pressed with hard times. I respect this man's proposition. He might have a hard time and hard earned lesson to establish his life. He might the type of person that want to have his hard earned money spent well enough for his family. He might be the type of people that work hard so that his children might not having the hard way like him. Not that I'm trying to feel great, but that's what happens with baby boomers generation. We...

Awkward Racism

There are moments when we would find ourselves joking about other nations/races. I don't know, jokes about racism is always comes natural. I think everyone might engaged on at least one conversations about it. We often joke about other race that not there. But, only Russel Peter that could pull it out on public without being cast. For us, we are deemed to have those jokes when no person from the race there. Now, what happens when there was one? ... [That moment of awkward silence]  I was with my friends on a coffee shop discussing about the richness of our diversity. You know, only in Indonesia many different races could blend well. I guess we owe one from the good ol' dictator, H. M. Soeharto. My generation was raised in a forced cultural blend. Some of us, like me, couldn't talk fluently in our racial language. And then, we talk about Malaysia. My experience in Malaysia showed a little fear about how far this country could stand united. When I was in a commuter,...

THE BYSTANDER EFFECT

I won't link you to the original problem of this post. The toddler incident in China is very disturbing even for me. Some of you might have known the issue some aren't. But, let me remind you that it was not for the weak heart. Jakarta also has its own problem. We are instructed by government not to give anything to any beggar. This act of mercy is punishable by law. The government argue that this is to reduce people who choose to beg instead of working honestly. There is a significant increase of beggar in Jakarta. The pay is better than that you work as a worker farmer. But, this half-baked decision lead into another problem. Each day people are getting cruel. One day at a time one of their hearts beginning to cease. One day at a time, they are forced to see this kind of injustice as something usual. Each day, human relations wither. Unnoticed. Until one day we beginning to feel that there is something missing in our lives. Rampaging to get through from this indescr...

A Demoralized Story

I was going to write this on my other blog. But, then I realized this was a controversial topic. After two unfinished drafts, I've decided to write here instead. I was interested in one of Tempo Interaktif's story about Indonesian Jews . The story is neutral. But, the last two paragraph is out of proportion. My English translation is something like this: But, now the Jew community have risen with the giant menorah built and two sinagoges in Manado and Tondano city, North Sulawesi. This group lead by Rabbi Yaakov Baruch. "We are doing to be a good Jew," said Rabbi Yaakov Menorah is also the symbol of Moss...

Lie

Why people lie? Why they pretend that they were at a certain point when they weren't even there yet? Don't that made people go easy on their faults and not learning from them? I have experimented that when I told people my location, they just fine with that. When I was in a street few miles from the appointed area, there is nothing that could change a fact that I was late. Furthermore, by incorporating my point, sometimes the people themselves would make a new rendezvous location shorter. So, why would we as a religious people sinned over such trivial matter? Why would people lie? Don't you ever felt those lies hurt you? Have you ever asked in the mirror who's that person? Don't you lie also to yourself? Isn't it made a heavy burden to your life? Don't you feel that you are beginning to have less choices of life. In fact, to keep your lying as consistent as possible, you are bound to tell more lies. Tell the truth is the best outcome of li...

No Title of Love

I see an alarming trend of posting something shaky mind (labil). I would like to be able to participate in the trend. But, what should I tell? I hope this is quite labil. I am a man born from families of two worlds. My mother was born in a wealthy family. OTOH, my father was a missionary son. So, I have a glimpse of both world. I often got invited by them to go to some restaurants. I love them, they are flamboyant. They love to dress casually, so casually that we often misunderstood as poor people. Well, I am but not them, ha... ha... ha.... There was a time in a restaurant when the waiter said something rude to us because of our clothes. I felt very insulted that crossed on my mind: "Is this the country that I need to serve and protect?" I mean, won't you felt insulted when you were entering a restaurant and suddenly the waiter told your family, "Sir, our meal costs one million rupiah." WTH? Did he think we would blindly coming into the place without k...

Question of Life 2: Free Will VS. Predestination

One of many favorite question of life is the question about "where is God when [INSERT BAD THING HAPPENS HERE]". C.S. Lewis made an interesting view from his faith as a Christian in "Problem of Pain". I recommend to have the book in English, though. The Indonesian version is quite jigsawed. The topic about bad things led people into believing few: some become skeptic, some seek asylum and some deny thinking. All with one pattern, trying to escape from the confusion. We desperately need to answer this to have a soothing lives. I myself trying to answer this within my own knowledge. Note that I based my approach from my Christian view, which may differ than you are. I don't want to be a smart ass nor becoming like those philosophers that don't touch the earth anymore. But, I think the question needs to be answered so that we can go on with our lives and maximize them. Unfortunately, not many people like to discuss this topic. I found people in universit...

Sin, Pleasure, Educate, Socialize

Wow, I must say that I can't resist myself to activate this blog again. Several topics that was on my blog here is unlikely forbidden in my UI blog, especially the liberal part and politics. Since that blog are hanging on many planets, not like this one, I kinda restrain my self. But, several friends even a comment from Kun, suggested that I write my thoughts here. Yes, I want my libre mind here. DISCLAIMER: STOP READING FROM ONWARDS IF YOU DON'T HAVE A LIBERAL MIND NOR GETTING SICK EASILY. I am distracted by the way of today's manga, especially in Shonnen. What I mean manga here is a graphic novel (comic for you) written with Japanese style (Manga) or Korean (Manhwa). Those are similar so I called them manga. Shonnen is a genre in manga that segmented its story towards young men (teenager). See wikipedia and google for it yourself for more detail. Anyway, There is a concern about today's manga that I feel like to share with you. There are two things that what in today...
