The Flag

Several people have been targeted by Indonesian authorities for raising the flag from the popular Japanese anime to express discontent with the government. One minister said the act could be considered treason. The Indonesian government should stop repressing freedom of… pic.twitter.com/LMX9qB12Ws — Amnesty International (@amnesty) August 7, 2025 Indonesian are doing protest by waving the flag of Jolly Roger from One Piece anime . The movement was first started by Indonesian truckers who usually put Indonesian flag on their truck in August each year to celebrate Indonesian independence day. In the One Piece story, there are lots of pirates with their own beliefs. They may even have conflicting ideas. However, Indonesian people chose Straw Hat Jolly Roger, the protagonist's flag. The flag of carefree and freedom. The first instance truckers waving the Jolly Roger were because they had troubles waiting days to get into the ferry boat. They felt they have waited too long and the...

Creepy Nuts - Bling‐Bang‐Bang‐Born

If I can say one thing about the state of Japanese music, it would be one thing: boring. They filled their songs with royal road progression and math rock-like rhythmic. You might find them fascinating and interesting at first. However, when you have 20+ years listening to Japanese songs, you can see the progression is stuck there. Well, every pop thing happening in the world is industrialized. The boringness is not exclusive to Japan. Every industrialized music will face the same issue, a highly produced checklist song. That changes when this song comes. This song is very refreshing and innovative. It's a good luck for them to be in the Mashle session 2 opening soundtrack so that many people, including me, can discover this great song and their artistry.  Don't get me wrong. In a world infested with industrialized art, many genuine artists with their own style exist. The problem is we don't know them and the search for them is a bit exhausting. Music is personal and not ...

Kobo Kanaeru - Everything Goes On

This song originally sung by Porter Robinson . He used heavy stylized voice typical for the EDM song. Kobo Kanaeru, however, take a different approach by using natural voice. This song plays at its strongest using piano rift and I think this is right on the alley of Redshift, the music producer of this Kobo Kanaeru rendition. I can feel the KZ livetune rift on Last Night Tonight   appearing in this music video. Well, Redshift was one of the oldest Vocaloid producer from Indonesia. I think the existence of Vocaloid nuggets on their song is a natural progression. At the first hearing, I am a little disappointed on Kobo at 2:52 when it was supposed to be the climax. She seems a little bit struggling when trying to do power notes. I wish the song could have been stylized or modulated to higher note. Either way, the song should have been a bit more powerful if we get that part. I think the payoff is too weak. However, I can see this as a "Viva La Vida" type of music. Really cool...

Review: 【Original Song】愛の小さな歌 || Ai no Chiisana Uta - Moona Hoshinova

This ballad song is the song about Moona thanking her fans. It takes minimalistic approach using piano and digital strings. I like the lyrics and the emotion in the singing. The chord progression also helps to convey the emotions throughout the song. It's a nice ballad. However, it has fatal flaw on how the String and the keyboard layered together. On parts like the chorus and the climax, they have erroneous sounding. Like listening to two songs with different keys at the same time. Studi Suara called this as dissonance. He tactfully said may be this is part of the song. Well, he probably afraid being attacked by mindless fans. It really not sounds well to me as well. Based on my listening, I think the problem lies in the sustaining sound of the keyboard. It clashed with the String and the next key. The keyboardist played as if only he/her/them that will fill the song. I tried to find covers as comparison and found  djalto cover have it better. She made the first section w...

#My2C for Iofi - Kagome [Cover]

I tried to search for video reaction in YouTube for this song. I can only find a reaction from Studi Suara . He brings the technicality for the voice acting in this song. He talks about Legato and legit stuff about singing. Well, here my two cents about this song. This is a raw song! Get it? A raw song! First, I agree with Studi Suara that the song should have a higher note. The song originally was sung by a man, so I think it should be wise to have it a little bit higher note. A higher note can force her to let that raw emotion out. At least if I was the producer/sound director(?), I'll ask her to try higher note.   Second, for a song with raw emotion as a theme, I also agree this song is too flat. However, instead of vocal aspect, I think I can say that the production itself is the problem. I don't know why current music production trend is so full. This made even singer voices getting compressed. Not much space is given for micro-legato or any imperfection. You won't...

VTuber

Generated from https://creator.nightcafe.studio/creation/2KR1yHqvqHwxXSo3kTbA Currently I'm amazed by a trend to make a podcast with an anime-styled avatar. The phenomenon referred as VTuber  is using a 2.5D style. The avatar is 3D glued on 2D background. Their content usually around singing, playing games, and chat with their viewers. As they do that live, they would connect to live payment method that will display something when people donate. In Indonesia, this culture is called "sawer". A culture that would tip the performer live. That's why, for Indonesian, this Japanese imported scene is not really alien. After I dig deeper, I found out that there are two types of affiliation. The first is a company setup that is called Vtuber Agency. The example of such agency is Maha5 and Hololive. And, to my surprise, there is also the guerilla type that called themselves independent. Personally, I'm not into these Vtubers because their design is not really original. I ...

Me! Me! Me!

WARNING:  THE CONTENT OF THE WRITING IS ABOUT OTAKU CULTURE MANY EXPLICIT CONTENTS AHEAD! I KEEP MY WRITING CLEAN, BUT THE SOURCE UNFORTUNATELY NOT. Me! Me! Me! is a title for an animated video clip. The song composed by Teddyloid and sung by Hana. The video clip was an original work of Hibiki Yoshizaki . The animation was directed by Shuichi Iseki . Yoshizaki-sensei and Iseki-sensei were collaborators in Evangelion 3.0. Hmm... no wonder this video clip full of eerie things. These guys are twisted. :-) To understand the meaning, I read about the song. The song is in three parts, which you can see in the website as well. A redditor posted a translation of the song. I also read the Google translation of the song in the original site just for getting rough image of what this song about. The song was sung by a girl perspective. It was kind of vague to me. It seems this song about Otaku culture. Specifically, this seems about people that obsessed with 2D characters (anim...

The World Is Not A Noir Film

This picture is taken from Sankom and I know some of you wouldn't be able to visit the site because of NSFW. DISCLAIMER: I am a Christian and this note is about my understanding about a culture, which is a major religion in my country. So, yeah, feel free to think that I didn't study enough and whatever reason you may inserted that you feel I don't have the right to judge. Yeah, whatever.... The topic is about an Islamic Miku. An Indonesian cosplayer made herself a Miku character with Hijab. Hijab is an Islamic veil. Cute, isn't she? :P Well, Internet is not a place for the weak heart, including Sankom. Some people started to bash how Islam is the religion of terrorist. Some of them also saying that the real Islam is not so keen to this idea. She could be banned! Based on both prejudices, I made this post. Not to flame, not to judge, but to share my view and my understanding. History of Factions Well, according to my understanding, Islam had a major era ...

That Ending

A user from IMDB forum,  fireinthewronghole ,  made a great explanation about Byousoku 5CM ending. An excerpt from the last paragraph that sum it: So because of the song, we can interpret their meeting at the train tracks as either real or imaginary. It’s possible, like the song implies, that Takaki simply sees Akari wherever he goes. Either way though, the meeting itself is a test of sorts for Takaki and it was meant to completely summarize their whole relationship in one simple but poignant scene. Again, the train tracks and the trains themsevles--being separated by the tracks and the time it takes waiting for the train to pass--is symbolic of the spatial and temporal distance created between the two and how after the trains have passed, Takaki is still left waiting while Akari has moved on. Takaki accepts this, smiles, and walks away as well, showing how he acknowledges that it’s time for him to move on as well.  This is what I call a Romanticism ending and I thi...

Sin, Pleasure, Educate, Socialize

Wow, I must say that I can't resist myself to activate this blog again. Several topics that was on my blog here is unlikely forbidden in my UI blog, especially the liberal part and politics. Since that blog are hanging on many planets, not like this one, I kinda restrain my self. But, several friends even a comment from Kun, suggested that I write my thoughts here. Yes, I want my libre mind here. DISCLAIMER: STOP READING FROM ONWARDS IF YOU DON'T HAVE A LIBERAL MIND NOR GETTING SICK EASILY. I am distracted by the way of today's manga, especially in Shonnen. What I mean manga here is a graphic novel (comic for you) written with Japanese style (Manga) or Korean (Manhwa). Those are similar so I called them manga. Shonnen is a genre in manga that segmented its story towards young men (teenager). See wikipedia and google for it yourself for more detail. Anyway, There is a concern about today's manga that I feel like to share with you. There are two things that what in today...
