As told before in my blog post, [1] I went on to use OSS4 and remove ALSA. The result is FANTASTIC! Before, I wouldn't notice the difference my default (provided by the office) headset, the Sennheiser m@b 30 with other headset around. But, I can hear crystal clear the different. Well, I suggest that you, especially the Intel HDA one, to use OSS4.
Here's my lscpi -v:
00:14.2 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc IXP SB4x0 High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)
Subsystem: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. Device 725a
Flags: bus master, slow devsel, latency 64, IRQ 16
Memory at fdff4000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Capabilities:
Kernel driver in use: hdaudio
Cool.
Note:
Yeah, I know about the developer complaining about the development of driver in GNU/Linux system is quite tiresome that the development of OSS4 may be in stake. But, I think the OSS4 system far superior than ALSA in term of Intel HDA audio system and worth to try.
