One Step At A Time

How can a nation with hundreds of years in Feudalism can heal itself in few years? As Tan Malaka suggested, Indonesia's problem is not about the corruption, nepotism, or any bad things but minds full of feudalism. Worst, many people even feels like they own this country. They can nullifying the law and they can act as if they are the law itself. The country is rotten. But, where can we run? Or, are we bastards that not have any connection with this country? Some people try to step up and take the path to change this country. KPK, BSE, and FOSS-ID. You should regard them as modern heroes. They may not perfect, but they are trying to do their best. I think they need audience to take step forward more and more. One thing for sure, this country is getting better and I hope these improvements stable enough. My suggestion as a fellow countrymen, let's we embrace whoever that wins 2009 and protect him/her from DPR. They are now in the blacklist and need to fend their role as respected...

Yet Another KDE 4 Review

I've been using KDE 4 lately and sacrificing the Amarok. Not that I don't like Amarok 2, I do like it and the look is promising but I hate to admit that I don't like its left tabbar. The left tabbar is not a dark-theme friendly. I can't read the blue thing. Yeah, alpha software have its limitation. I think Amarok 2 would just fine to me. The real showstopper for me is the LastFM integration doesn't support proxy. Oh, well, go figure!

OSS4

As told before in my blog post, [1] I went on to use OSS4 and remove ALSA. The result is FANTASTIC ! Before, I wouldn't notice the difference my default (provided by the office) headset, the Sennheiser m@b 30 with other headset around. But, I can hear crystal clear the different. Well, I suggest that you, especially the Intel HDA one, to use OSS4. Here's my lscpi -v: 00:14.2 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc IXP SB4x0 High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01) Subsystem: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. Device 725a Flags: bus master, slow devsel, latency 64, IRQ 16 Memory at fdff4000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K] ...

Update Berita

Arastamar! Waduh, STT Arastamar/STT Setia diserang. Sedih!

Another Crossroad

Because of Kemp's post [1], I know that there is an interesting post about virtualization related. Gunnar's post [2] that lead to a quite crutial matter about Xen's future in Debian[3]. Will Xen would soon became like OSS, sinking its own popularity because of the far off-sync with Linux kernel? Hopefully this would not lead people to KVM. I know KVM may have the best future, but hopefully don't make mistake like ALSA now. I have switched to OSS4 now, but the blog of OSS developer keeps me worrying of its future. Oh, well, that's life. A New Dawn Of Researcher

If you remember how I mumbling about the future of a researcher in Indonesia, this may a good policy.[2] Well, hopefully we don't have those heaven promises (janji-janji sorga). Yup, I hope so. One of the greatest fear of a person is the inability to have existence. To be a nerd for the rest of your life would not only endangering you, but also your family, especially your kid (if you would have). The Dark Knight

This film is great! I kinda like the surrealism put on the film. Unfortunately, they maybe don't want this film like the noir Sin City, if not, this can be categorized as a thriller film. Yeah, this is an action hero film. But, I do like the Joker and I think every one of you that have that psychopathic potential deep down inside you would also say: he done a terrific job. Well, what do you expect, this film is full of talented people. I don't mind watching this film again. Of course in a theatre full of people that actually WANTS to watch the movie. I hate those imbicile that don't have manner that put their handphone activated, not even silenced. This film is not a sugar film and not as dramatic as Spiderman 2. This film is a line up to what would we imagine if we really living in the comic as a person, not as a reader of a boyish comic. Kudos for the filmmaker and the crew. Out of the thing, I still expect this film can be darker. But, yeah we need to compromise with man...

Let's Take The Step Together

I am not a type of person whom babbling and yet keep on without doing things. Some of you may know me as a person with a bad mouth. Yeah, sometimes because of my past environment in not so good environment (you may say harsh), making some of my language has explicit content. But, I learnt, as we may talk harsh, we meant none of the harsh thing. Moreover, we may have strong words and letting all words go unfilter just to provoke the person to do the best. When Kang Onno was interviewed about Gates coming in this nation, yeah yet another ignorance of Indonesian people about the fact that pure open source activist is NOT compatible with M$, he told them that what Gates promise is already can be achieved by free software. There is an alternative, but nobody in general know that. When I say this nation is suck and I hate this nation of its ignorance, it felt as a part of desperate of me. I, especially, dislike ICT people of Indonesia unwillingly playing their role as a model of Indonesian s...

Thx SBY

Gw bakal milih SBY kalo KPK dibiarin kerja kayak gini! SALUT!

Neoliberalism

One of my fave UI staff blog, the NeoLiberalism 101: http://staff.blog.ui.edu/dnh60/index.php/2008/07/05/harvard-disorientation-guide-to-neoliberalism/ It is a copy of a post made by Ted Lechterman. Great article and I believe it is true that people are becoming more and more richer. But, I do believe that if the poor stay poor, or worse becoming poorer, there will be an end where the gap will eventually becoming a boomerang for the society. Ah, the society disorder. This is what happens in today's world. Because of the poor and rich are having greater gap, using religion and dogma as reasons, many country now at war. Even the "peaceful" nation Indonesia is in the track of becoming devastated. Yes, the KPK team is a great way to end this.

No SSL/TLS? WTF?

My friend has setup a new website on a webhosting provider. This provider have a good support, including IM standby. But, what bother me alot is it has a lack of basic need of a webserver: Secure connection over SSL/TLS What I love to know is why? As we investigate, they said to need to charge more for SSL/TLS capability because it must have a public IP for it. Well, yeah, of course, that's what we call non-repudiation. So, are these webhostings encourage bad practice to their users? I mean, come on, who would not have authentication for their websites?

Eclipse Help

Dear readers, I am in trouble of deploying my project in Eclipse (3.3.2). In Netbeans (6.0), I would just build the project and all the project dependencies, the jars and other projects, ar placed in the [PROJECT_DIR]/dist/libs/ . How can I achieve the same functionality with Eclipse?

A Free Thing? WTF!

That would an average Joe/Jane would tell if I mention that you could get Ubuntu for free. Yeah, I guess the popular GNU/Linux Ubuntu (Ubuntu) put their product into Best Buy is a right thing. What if I tell you that GNU/Linux don't have any REAL virus? Yeah, another laugh. I know about the XSS threat, but it can be blocked with your Firefox. Hmm... why don't people believe that there are things that you can't buy but you can get it for free?

Society in Sickness

Why God left the 99 sheeps for the one whom gone astray? Maybe, just maybe, because of those 99 weren't helping that one, yet only cursing and as the one gone astray they erased that one as if that one sheep is never exists. Why Apple name their little device "iPod"? Maybe, just maybe, because of the device becomes a pod to save one from one's surrounding, alienating the person from danger of the surrounding. Is it alright advertising total selfness to this generation? I know the value is changing and norms are changing. That's why I totally disagree with one's quote that said law is below norms. At the 80's and early 90's, it is totally not a correct thing for a student to scold teacher. Well, I see that today we have cases where students get away from scolding teacher. I do believe that when I was little parents and seniors must be regarded as people whom you must listen and obey. Even, I found that children wouldn't dare to see straight to their...

Hi-Tech People in The Dark Age

Surely we can create a new world with current's trend. We can juggle and rampage all the old stuff, put them in trash and move forward. But, the world is an environment, i.e. many elements are built into unity. How many of us see the fallen of technologies? How many rollercoster project sum up in a great catastrophy? Well, I'm sure each of us see at least one or two. Technology is a great tool to achieve greater possibility while gaining effectiveness. This of course hold true if the one using it knows how to utilize it. That's why we have cause and effect analysis. We also have many methods to justify its needs and how it will have break even. We have many SDLC methods to ensure the project can be built with effective ways and can ensure the project will deliver in time. But, can the rigid methods ensure the software of being successful? Blizzard, many MMORPG companies, and FOSS specialist have shown us that there is more than a project managing to have a successful softwa...

Yet Another Blabber of Today's Experience

For the first time I am thankful for being a customer of BNI. BNI (formerly BNI46) is a bank full of difficulties. First, not all store can use the BNI debit card and I am againsts any credit card -- that's why I can't purchase anything from internet. Second, I have the difficulty to find nearest BNI ATM. Thank God's that BNI have put their ATM machine near after all this time I have to use Mandiri's ATM. Anyway, with BNI card I can have 30% cut for entering Dufan (Dunia Fantasy), a theme park in Jakarta. With today's rate of Rp 100.000,00, that cut is very significant considering of the member we have. I don't like to go to Dufan. I don't like have a concept of vacation with a half hour to two hours lining up just to get two to 10 minutes show. But, for the fairness in democracy, so be it. I have suggested to have the vacation to Ancol and all of them can have whatever they want and I can bring my pillow and my air bed to go to sleep in the beach. As I see ...

Just For Insight

If you're looking for good javascript library that doesn't suck, JQuery is a way to go. I can find a website dedicated for JQuery and it isn't come with any of UI (though you can find one). I can make my own script and go on with it. Using a simple tutorial, I can play with it. I have long not touch the web programming. I guess JQuery made the simple step for me. As usual, if I'm not lazy, maybe some tricks may I introduce for you. http://jquery.com/

God and Me

People would say that it is God who would win. Unfortunately, I win. But what is this about, why am I the one that keeps the casualties. Yes, in this life would I conquer God. I would say "no" to His plan and starting my own. It's my way or the highway! No way, Jose! Another theatrical life and I wish I could fulfill it with a great scene of my life but just wandering around and turns out that I am ruining the play. I can't undo and I am too ashamed to forfeit. The audience's watching. What is this? This performance should be for my own show, to show that Director that I am capable of doing everything all by myself. I don't need Coach, I'd just to dribble the ball and shoot it. Against all odds, against all player in the field. As long as I play and the referee doesn't blow whistle, I can do it all along. My teammates only give me pain in the ass. They are my rival! I am the star of this game. I don't need.... Argh, why the enemy score the game? He...

KDE 4.x: The Rebirth User Interface Experience

I would raise my hat (if I have one) to toast the success of KDE community. They did a clever way of defining things that we solely would claim that only Apple who's able to do it in years: User Interface revolution. The long awaited KDE 4 is now ready to take actions. Well, not at least not this month. For years, since the era of RedHat and Mandrake still walking on this earth, I have been a devoted user of GNOME My choice of desktop is always GNOME and KDE 2.x at the time is not that much and I would still rather to go with Window Maker (the default window manager at my faculty). IceWM would do nice, but I don't like another system GUI rip off and it has not enough configuration. But still, I would like to maximize my computer usage. Window Maker have a weird concept of making big icons all over the desktop and I would think that it would screwed if I have so many applications opened in the same time. But still, I like the theme and the fact that I don't usually use the ...

Hooray! HTTP Request Fixed.

Yeah, finally I can blog again! The proxy server have been fixed. The main problem is some ars*hole in local net abuse the proxy to create tunnel for them via CONNECT of HTTP 1.x command. The CONNECT of HTTP request can be anything and encoded without further investigation. This cannot be tolerate! Any content, even virus and spam can infuse into the local net. An inexperience abuser/ars*hole with kiddies ability may attract his/her hole to crackers which in turn jeopardize the local net. Some unrelated materials also can cause bad effect such as not be able to concentrate at college. [You perv! :D] Anyway, let's have a responsible and save net.

Is It True? An Identity Crysis Of A Fellow Nation

Is it true, according to Sense HOfstede that Maluku wants to get free as a country, just like East Timor. [1] This could be true because of the existence of Republik Maluku Selatan (South Maluku Republic) and the fact that development is gapping so much between the eastern and western Indonesia. That also can also be considered true because of the different nature of the Netherland and the local government partnership in Java and Maluku. Well, I don't know much about Indonesian history than the crap utterly given as a curriculum in my head. I wish a differ, fact-based, and real history would come up. I can only heard many historians beg for the rewrite of history text books to reflect the real one. Well, I don't know what's wrong but I do feel there is something wrong with the history. The first time I awaken from the twisted history is when I saw euphemism in telling us that it was the fault of our own people about the forced labor, not the Dutches. The text said that af...
