There were times in life you felt like deserted and you felt like the world caved in around you. Everything became nuisance and you f*cked up. Felt like the whole live that you journeyed had no end and you couldn't sought the light. Adding to the worst part where no friends were there when they were needed the most.

Heavy. Wished that you didn't in the position you were...

No way to run. Wished that you had wings to take you to another place, wished you were someone else.

In the end. You surrendered and turned out that everything were alright. In an instant, everything were possible. Boom! Miracle happened!

Welcome to God's candid camera. You've been pwnd. :P

There is a small problem, when you google "Universitas Indonesia", you would not find www.ui.ac.id in the search result. From the temporary investigation, we didn't find that the domain is being banned or something like that.

Is there any reason?

On the positive note, the first result was penerimaan.ui.ac.id, which is an online registration for anyone who would join UI. Anyway, to those that will take UI's exam this Sunday, have a good faith. :D

Leason Learned. HARD WAY!

There is an irony said that bloggers put tag "blog is an intellectual property" without paying attention to what its mean. No, not that I'm saying that blogger uses pirated version of the software while typing it -- it would be interesting but I'm into that. But, because what of their saying is not foolproof.

How would you protect your blog content from being copied? How would you fight plagiarism? I'm not a lawyer, thus some of my arguments here not valid. Do not hesitate to comment, i.e. CMIIW.

First, do you license your writings?

If you don't license your writing, people can have it as a public domain. The only thing that get them not to abuse such is because of academic ethics. Still, it doesn't make your writing protected.

Second, does copyright protects you?

In some countries, yes. Many, maybe.

Third, does it matter?
.... (maybe) to be continued

As seen on TV, there are so many sexual intercourse in Indonesia right now that it is so alarming to many of us. For the religious, it is said to be what of the end of the world. For the liberalist, it is said that people who not properly know what they are doing are endangered themselves with deseases such as AIDS. No, not that sex is prohibited, but both have different approach on it.

For Vaticans, it is a sinful act to endorse the use of condom and that made them sinister to the liberalist. But, it is also the liberalist that clouded their mind with freedom of life. Vatican, like other Abrahamaic religions, uses different approach. To them, marriage is the divine setting to have safe sexual intercourse, not condoms. If condom were endorsed, then it would like the religion permit sexual intercourse without marriage. So, it is on a good purpose.

But, sex is so powerful that many seeks to its present. For religious, it is called temptation and for the liberalist seen as the human most desire. For me, it is just a realization of human's need to be recognized by other. Hormones and such are produced by the body and controlled by mind. The mind itself is affected by environmental change and the way it perceive.

Those that found in a dark alley of life have been traumatized by act of their surrounding. Best of what they can do is seeking their refuge in an arcane asylum called sex. Most gay person is someone that had close older friend (the age difference is significant). People who partying surely have cold house that they cannot call it a home.

Then again, it is the religious who would come into conclusion that those poor are not worth and considered as trash. They would prejudice against those and blindly ignore. They only seek to their "true" purpose. People who live with sins are just bunch of Hell's fuel just like infidels.

What does the purpose of a religion to the world? Is it to make war like those in Iraq and Palestine? Is it the license to have genocide like Nazi, Serbians, and Turks?

I say God did not exists from the very beginning. It is only a crap that planted many years by those who prolonged by power. How to prove it? Simple, "God is benevolence" is a simple premise that hold true to religious. God teach us to do good things because He/She/It is.

Now, let me asked you, do you have hate because of your religion? Come on, be true to yourself!

As a Christian, you hate those that discriminate you and how church is closed easily while it was so hard to have it. You hate gays, punks, and others with rotten sin. As a Moslem, you hate Israeli and curse them and wished them to die. I don't know what other religion would seed hatred to its followers.

You see, religions are becoming root of many problems. It is the sole legitimation of people to have a feeling "hate those that different". It is the perfect prove to have vandalism actions are just. It is a right certificate to kill.

Is God dead that He/She/It let His/Her/Its people ruining His/Her/Its image? Or, is God really don't exist? Nevertheless, it is alright to think that God don't really matter/exist. Religious hatred mind is the reason that the follower themselves do it and it doesn't matter much.

People go for sex are to find a hiding place just like people would come to church/mosque/etc to pray. What would the cause of it? Sex is the thing that bring peace and ease of mind just like religion claimed to be. It has bigger attraction than seeking to God. It even can fulfill basic needs such as food, shelter, and clothes.

The only thing that the religious people of Indonesia can do is to capture those loving people, hard working people, and the lone people. Embarrest them in national televisions. Put them like animals in zoo where other religious people watch it and be satisfied. Thus, praying someday God will do His/Her/Its judgemental punishment against them.

If you asked me, the religious is the one who got the most sins. People are hurt, but what best they can do is to close the gates of Heaven and not letting those poor in.

Your way of life is making some people can't have decent work. Your way of life making some children lost their hope. Your way of life hurts people.

So, religious people, let me ask you a question again: Is your God really exist?
After the resignation two of my kernel heroes, Con Kolivas and Hans Reiser, I've stopped following Linux kernel changelog. The thing was, I didn't think anything special would came from the kernel and yes there wasn't. If you noticed after the lost, innovations that came from outside Linux kernel was diminished.

Before kernel 2.6.21, there was so many (alright, few maybe) kernel patches out there that grown with ideas such as Suspend from Disk, Xen, SD (was a rewrite from Staircase) scheduler, Reiser4, Memory Swappiness, and many tweaks. Hmm... I don't like to remember any of them now, because it's hurt to do it with the trolling and negative comments between devs.

Anyway, ReiserFS still my fave until now but it is getting old and old. With the avaibility of size, new technologies around and, especially, with the impression of ReiserFS is set to be deprecated I am getting anxious of its future. Of course, officially they don't but it seems like after the imprisonment of Hans, many likely thinks that ReiserFS is dead.

Oh, btw, this post is not supposed to be a rant. I will go to the point. Ahem.

Reiser4 filesystem had so many great features and the prominent thing was plugin, the ability to add new capability and to seperate core Reiser4 filesystem and extending it with new feature without breaking compability. It was a great idea, but, yeah, it broke many kernel conventions which angered the kernel devs, especially with Hans' attitude. The inclusion request was turned into flame wars.

Okay, the interesting part is now, with the prominent use of ZFS, Linux filesystem left behind. Luckily, a new filesystem which called BTRFS (B-Tree Filesystem) [WIKI] is now being actively developed. It was developed by Oracle but will be included in the Linux kernel 2.6.29. What made me interested is the part that it has Reiser4 concepts. But, hey, I didn't research that much right now.

I will wait kernel 2.6.29, buy a new harddrive, and starts to hack again. Until the time, I'll just collecting money for my new cellphone. [So depressing that the phones suggested only can be bought outside this country] :D

How to lift this curse?
If you're aware, recently a big ISP have been shut down because it allowed its user to send spam. Because of the closing, spam been have dropped about 40~70% all around the world. But, if you aware, google also been hack recently and there are increased number of spams going in from my personal mail hosted in GMail (well, it's a mailling list anyway). There's something going on to Yahoo! as well and I think they want to attack Yahoo! also.

The mailserver also been flooded with attacks recently from outside, this taught me a valuable lesson:
SASL is not that save!
Just like China's Great Wall, crumbled because of the bad management of the user. You can build a Citadel in your mail appliance, but it still not safe if your user not that precautious. In fact, transparent to user is no longer true to the email safety. Security is not that comfortable! They must know how to secure their login. Now, they need to know that many spammers want to fish their login and password.

There are three technique that exist:

#1 Great Pretender
Pretending as your administrator and sending email notification to ask password. FYI, we, admins, doesn't need your password to access any application that we administer. So, we will never ask any of your confidential including password.

The other reason why we will never ask you password is because we don't need any to access nor modify your personal information. But, we will never do that! we have ethics, fyi.

#2 Fishing Your Password
Using viruses, malwares, etc to setup a website that related to well-known/target services. Take a look at [WARNING: THIS IS A PASSWORD FISHING SITE, NEVER ENTER ANY CONFIDENTIAL NOR ACCESS THE SITE IF USING WINDOZE.] http://holiday-picz.com [/END OF BAD SITE]. The site also viable with yahoo login name subdomain. The look is very like real site, but the site host is not. Watch out for that. If it's HTTPS, read the SSL/TLS certificate.

Impersonating also comes with different model, such as cracking legitimate sites and using XSS to hijack the site.

#3 Social Engineering
Cool? Well, that's the idea, pretend as someone else and persuade user to provide confidential information.

That's for common folks. For admins, watch your HTTP server's access.log, error.log, warn.log. Watch for suspicious request. I assume that you already have iptables handles zero packets and overwhelming connection, no? The bucket thingie, you activate that, don't you?

Watch out your sendmail/postfix/MTA and applications that using it. As I said earlier, SASL is not that save. It only guarantee a legit user that access the email. But, it can't guarantee that the email sent is not spam that have a FROM header not from your domain. So, check your SMTPs and never let them becoming open relays. One note, it's a good practice to have different incoming and outgoing server. It save the regex. Oh, do you have that good ol' SA?

The last thing, take a deep breath. Every user can have the potential to become an ^a*hole$. But, hey, that's life. They want comfort and we want security. Just... hang in there. -_-'

Oh, btw, captcha sucks. Don't you know that it is prone lately? Google for the article.
My current cell phone really made me an a**hole. It hung often and died randomly. Sometimes, it even made me unreachable for days. The battery leaked and the charger was hard to find in stores. Oh, well, 5+ years of dedication according to Moore Law is justified for an infrastructure upgrade.

Okay people, I don't have a knowledge about cell phone. My Sony Ericsson Z600 is a fantastic cell phone with comfortable keypad and I hope the new one could also have the same feature. Okay, to make it fast, this is what I want from the phone:

A must:
1. Comfortable keypad to answer SMS.
2. Can imported all of my contact list.
3. Clamshell.

A desire:
1. I can run ssh it. (Okay, too much maybe?)
2. A camera. (No, actually I don't need it, am I?)
3. Bluetooth.
4. GPRS/3G. (I have IM2, so this is not really a wish)

An added value (which I am really consider and would choose):
1. Have development platform and kit. (Can hack into it?)

What would you recommend?

Sebenarnya gw males blogwalking, tapi ada satu post yang bikin gw tetap di planet ubuntu-id:

http://okto.silaban.net/2009/02/linux/linuxer-yang-kecewa/

Sampai sekarang pun sama. Makanya, gw bersyukur banget waktu Laksamana Sukardi menjual aset-aset BUMN. Liat, tuh, Indosat, andai kata masih dipegang sama negara pasti sampe sekarang mandek kayak Telkom.
