What A Strange Week

A coworker singing a song about having a crush to his best friend's girl, Glenn Fredly feat. Yura, "cinta dan rahasia" over and over again. He sung the song over and over. I wasn't even know the song and by the end of the night, I knew the harmonizations. At first I wanted to stop him. But, his performance is becoming weird in our workplace. May be this song was related on his condition, so I restrained myself to have him stop singing the song. I still respect his privacy so I didn't dig deeper. Another friend of mine also have a long chat with me because he accidentally transfer a Raichu from his deck. In his desperation, he said would sold his account and stopped playing Pokémon GO. Long story short, because he was team Valor, I told him that I was team Mystic. He could started again and next time chose with Mystic. I also suggested that we should went to conquer gyms together. Well, it's kinda hard to play solo. I could conquer a level 5 gym alone....

Indonesian Christianity and LGBT

PGI, Persekutuan Gereja-gereja di Indonesia, Communion of Churches in Indonesia, made a Pastoral statement about LGBT. In its statement, PGI recommended all Indonesian churches to accept LGBT as normal people. Families should embrace their family members that was LGBT. It recommended churches to accept people that came out. It also recommended to put LGBT away from being label as a sickness. Then, at last, it recommended LGBT as a part of Christian faith. What a bold move! There were many people voice their objections. Mangapul Sagala claimed that the leader of PGI had a moral deviation. He also assumed that was why they move the Grand Meeting sooner. DR. Andik made an open statement against that Pastoral message. What about me? There is a part of me calling for political correctness. To accept them as a member of family or society is a must. I also have gay friends and they are normal to me. But, when in church, that's where a line should be drawn. Romans 1:24-27 exp...

Kumbayah

WARNING: This writing is the reflection of my knowledge and perception. It will absolutely contains my opinion. Some subjects may be uncomfortable for you to read as this writing explains things from many expert views which may not conform to your faith. You may disagree, but this is my honest opinion of what I've known so far.   Some people think "kumbayah" was a word lend from Africa. That's why there are people who would think twice to sing "Kumbayah, My Lord". They suspect "Kumbayah" is a name for an unknown African Idol. They don't want to call their God a name registered for other deity. As a Christian, I too asked myself, "what is the proper name of our God?" Christianity which derived from Judaism borrows many names for calling God. And from the Old Testament, we also know that even the Israelites call God with different name. Some name like Elohim was a name borrowed from a word of Canaanites for the Supr...

[SPOILER] My Take on Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice

At the first watching BvS, I kinda knew that I would get disappointed. Three books of Doomsday was butchered into that abomination. There was something that made Doomsday a special villain, you know! I've played the video game, read the books and peek into the comics at the bookstore. And then, I watched BvS and everything cool from Doomsday dumped into the trash. Oh, well, at least I'm not like those poor people who invested their lives into Star Wars Extended Universe. My brother asked me to buy a ticket for a second watch. He haven't watched the BvS. With my sister pregnant, he couldn't have a time. He was a fan of Batman. So, I dragged myself to watch BvS. This time I let any knowledge go and went with a mind of what kind of superhero was this movie. [SPOILER STARTS HERE] After the last scene when Batman sought after Lex Luthor Jr., he punched the wall. A dialog by Lex Luthor Jr. made Batman stopped his rage. Why? Lex Luthor Jr. was telling Batman about t...

[Christianity] Stratagems of Honest People

Jesus told his disciples that they are lambs sent into the midst of wolves. Therefore, they have to be shrewd like snakes and as innocent as doves. (Matthew 10:16 NIV). How could you put two clashing concepts together? Is this a passage to have a reason for Christians having white lies? Are Christians eligible to lie? We often associate shrewd with a derogatory meaning. We often deliberately think of it as taking treacherous acts, manipulative and poisonous. But, that's not what Jesus meant. As a clue also on Matthew, Jesus said this before, "All you need to say is simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one." (Matthew 5:37 NIV) A white lie is a lie and it belongs to the evil, not God's! God not need a strategy of his arch-nemesis. He don't need our help. He loves our devotions as an offering and lie isn't one of it. What Jesus meant was what New King James Version (NKJV) used as a term to serve the mean...

Interpreting Big Losses

In wisdom of Dao, zero was called wuji which means unlimited. Having nothing means you are unlearned and ready to walk into any unlimited chances. The future is still unwritten. To have something is to be bounded to something. Responsibilities and comfort zone made a person reluctant to evolves. When that evolution is necessary for a greater great plan, God would help that person broke their baggage;  unchained one from their comfort zone, made one unencumbered, made one have a light feet to walk, made one to enter greater results. So what if I cut from the love I had? That love might have been the reason I couldn't walk further in career. So what if I have choose you? I feel complete with you. So what if I lose the job? That job is the reason I'm still stuck in years. So what if I'm stay in this job? This job is my vesel to my raison d'etre and I have sailed so far with it. To gain is to lose something else. To lose is to be able to gain something els...

#KamiTidakTakut

Yesterday there was a bombing accident Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. It blew up a police box. There were at least 10~14 people as suspects. There were also gunshots heard. I don't think our security officers wasn't on guard. There were cases of bad people exposed hiding weapons in Depok. A case of detonated bomb on an orphanage because of the failed assembly process. Yeah, sick people hiding on places that should be out of usage. Well, considering how they would shamelessly used women and children as living bomb, I guess it was natural of them for shamelessly hiding on there. In case you didn't know, Depok is a rural city next to Jakarta. Anyway, contrary on what the western media wrote, our shock only in a moment. After the bombing in Sarinah, Jakarta, the events evolved as jokes arouse around the event. There were still street peddlers around like nothing happened, like this satay peddler. Why they were there? Because people in Jakarta at first shocked. An...
