A Jobless Society

http://news.detik.com/read/2013/11/27/155431/2425309/10/bos-pengemis-rp-25-juta-hanya-beraksi-berdua-di-jaksel Let me tell you the story from the link objectively. The link is about how a beggar boss was caught at Tugu Pancoran, South Jakarta, Indonesia. He was illegally begging for money in a supposed to be a neutral area. He got caught by social worker officers. Apparently, he was carrying 25 million Rupiah with him. Together with his friend, both of them had generated that income in just 15 days. He told the officers that the money was for his pilgrimage. His people in the rural gave him nickname "Haji Walang" while he wasn't done the pilgrimage yet. There, that's the most objectively written story that I can come up with. There is so many negative sentiment about these kind of people. They makes money by roleplaying as sick person and old people. In this case, he is old. He is 55. Walang is his name and Haji is the title to men and women that had complet...

Crushed Other People

Broken people born from mistreatment from other broken people. A psychopathic killer born from abuse. A bad father born from failures. A bad woman born from trauma. You can blame them and nothing's gonna be alright. Or, you could dwell into their stories and find the past that made them this way. I believe choosing the later is the most difficult one. It includes forgiveness and accepting them back. Something that can't be done easily. But, choosing the first comes with an even greater price: it will spread brokenness more. If you see toddlers, there are times when they act rebellious. They harm themselves, destroying what ever properties that lies. They cries so long and loud. They do it because they want to be listened. Now, transform that into adults. The principal is the same, but they are more organized and ferocious. Still, what I said stands: A bad human is a lost and unloved. To choose to love that person is a decision that will save that person and ou...

She Said, He Said

She Said He said Why the two got different responses? The girl pictured as a cute devoted type, whilst the boy is getting tagged with weird tag. A boy with responsible thought would not be considered normal. They say that on olden days women would get menstruation at the age 13 to 15. Nowadays getting shorter to 10 and 12 -- thanks to Colonel Sanders and Uncle Ronald. That hormonal shift may made the culture think that girls grew wiser at the early age. So, this type of thinking is actually normal. Boys would be pictured as cubs playing around before leaving nest. They would dive into the world taking turfs and trying to be alpha. That's why they do stupid things. To experiment their inner self, which would in the end made them wiser. What the main character do here is totally different from what we, the culture, think about boys. Boys should be silly and full of hormones. They would be a great example of idiots. Well, at least that the culture woul...

Another Note about Egypt and Middle East Power Struggle

For those that following my tweets must known that I had a good conversation with a close friend of mine about Egypt. It was an interesting short discussion. It is an eye opener about an increasing trend of a thinking by some general Moslem in my country now think. Egypt is a case in how Social Media can turns a country upside down. I went into details a lot. Apparently, I was kind of hesitant to write it because I didn't want to be harassed. I didn't (and still don't want to) hurt anyone with my writings. It ain't worth it! If you want to read deep understanding about what's happening in the Middle East, a writing by Don Warrington is there for you to read. ANOTHER UPDATE about current state of relationships which Egypt conflict based on. Yeah,  basically it is a power struggle between factions. Most of them are religious factions. But, don't forget about the military. They're playing actively also. Also, don't forget about other countries....

An Avid Reader of Minamoto-kun Monogatari

After his accomplishment, I felt something is missing. The joy of the pain of being teased by the Sensei is gone. Call me M, but this is my heart. :)

Tolerance

Tolerance means one try to restrict oneself because of others with different values. One compromise one's idealism so that one can coexists with other people. With this, we can be in peace. That's the bigger idea. But, what about the real thing? Sometimes, there are people who don't consider others. Should I tolerate these kind of people? When I was on my way to Pondok Cina, I ran into a group of homosexual. The train was a little bit full so I was standing. In front of me there are guys with pink eye shadows. They were cool and I was cool and we didn't bother each other. We just like everyone else, strangers. The trouble comes when in the other side of the cart, a guy sit on the lap of his fellow. The guy on the bottom played his fingers into.... Oh, God! I don't want to remember that horrible sight! I feel disgusted and walked away into other cart. My friend asked me, what if it was heterosexual? I could digest to that. But, it wasn't. It was a man ...

Achievement

Until that prevail, we struggle. So, set your aim high.

My Note About Egyptian Revolution

A post protesting the Military coup for Mursi. Well, I am expecting this because Mursi blundered his administration so much. People in Egypt are growing weary of his presidential movement. He was trying to instill Sharia law to Egypt. That's natural because he is from Islamic Brotherhood. Unfortunately, that would oppress the minorities and that anger everyone, including the Christian people whom had also taken part in the Mubarak coup. It upset the other parties. Now, here was the blunder. Mursi, instead of putting a dialog, he threatened everyone to shut up. He hastened his controversial law to be placed immediately and told everyone else to shut up. Everyone else felt threatened. The democracy was in danger. Not to forget that secular Egypt a little bit allergic to Islamic Brotherhood. And the broken promise by Mursi made people anxious. He was too fast to hasten his dominance. With wrong step of this, Mursi made the wrong move and lost the voice some of his peop...

The World Is Not A Noir Film

This picture is taken from Sankom and I know some of you wouldn't be able to visit the site because of NSFW. DISCLAIMER: I am a Christian and this note is about my understanding about a culture, which is a major religion in my country. So, yeah, feel free to think that I didn't study enough and whatever reason you may inserted that you feel I don't have the right to judge. Yeah, whatever.... The topic is about an Islamic Miku. An Indonesian cosplayer made herself a Miku character with Hijab. Hijab is an Islamic veil. Cute, isn't she? :P Well, Internet is not a place for the weak heart, including Sankom. Some people started to bash how Islam is the religion of terrorist. Some of them also saying that the real Islam is not so keen to this idea. She could be banned! Based on both prejudices, I made this post. Not to flame, not to judge, but to share my view and my understanding. History of Factions Well, according to my understanding, Islam had a major era ...

Lose Sight of A Vision

As we grow older, we grow weary. Far away from the shore, we face the vast ocean and its uncertain weather. Anxiety intoxicated us more and more. I found this is normal. When we were little children, our parents took care of our necessity. They made sure our lives well. We got educations and well fed. As a bonus, we could get what we desire. As we grow older, responsibility comes. One by one, the newbie life support lines unplugged. In times, we are expected to be a pro, responsible for our own and maybe (if life permits) others. But, what are we? Just sheep with low field of sight. None can predict a future. Not a single thing can be told about it. Just a ferocious feeling that we want to keep exist. It grows despair, greed and self-conceited. Taking its toll on people. It takes dreams one by one from one's life. It clouds one mind into thinking oblivion. It's hard to think benevolence nowadays. This is a grave matter and many would come up with their solutions. Bu...

When God Cursed A Saint

Mr. Rachmat made a good story. A student from my university (Universitas Indonesia) died while riding a motorcycle. He was run over by a train in Pondok Cina, Depok. Another notable man, an Imam from my country (Indonesia), Ustafz Jefri Al Buchori (UJE), also died on motorcycle. He crashed into a big tree. The student was supposed to do pilgrimage in the few days. He was supposed to be in the house, but he insisted to go to campus to meet his friend. When one train passed, he then crossed the rail without waiting the bar lifted up. He wasn't realize that it was a two way train rail because he was too conceited. A train from other side came and you know the rest. About Ustafz Jefri, you can read them on Indonesian newspaper. They were devoted, especially Ustafz. And I as a Christian minister also find Ustafz Jefri as a tough and honourable competitor. He brilliantly brought many new ways to bring people to Islam. Well, fair competition is fair competition, isn't? Even...

Total Server

Nowadays, when people talks about servers, they would talk about virtual servers as server. I guess this is the age of cloud and I need to evolve my knowledge about such terms. I had an interesting chat with my colleague once. He was a head of IT in a foreign country university. He was humble and I love how he greeted with warm feelings. We had an interesting chat for a while about each other infrastructures. He asked me the total of server that we had in my workplace (Universitas Indonesia). Well, I told him that we once had 100+ servers and now we are reducing them to 70+ servers. He said it was too little and his place would have hundreds of server. I thought, wow, his place must be a big server farm like a hangar. But, to my surprise, he surprised about my explanation and he told me that it was plainly wrong. I should mention the VMs not the physical servers. Oh, well, what a nice talk and I stopped there because I have no idea how much the 'servers'. I persona...

That Ending

A user from IMDB forum,  fireinthewronghole ,  made a great explanation about Byousoku 5CM ending. An excerpt from the last paragraph that sum it: So because of the song, we can interpret their meeting at the train tracks as either real or imaginary. It’s possible, like the song implies, that Takaki simply sees Akari wherever he goes. Either way though, the meeting itself is a test of sorts for Takaki and it was meant to completely summarize their whole relationship in one simple but poignant scene. Again, the train tracks and the trains themsevles--being separated by the tracks and the time it takes waiting for the train to pass--is symbolic of the spatial and temporal distance created between the two and how after the trains have passed, Takaki is still left waiting while Akari has moved on. Takaki accepts this, smiles, and walks away as well, showing how he acknowledges that it’s time for him to move on as well.  This is what I call a Romanticism ending and I thi...
