Ray - Hololive Gen 0 cover

Bump of Chicken's Ray is one of my favorite songs. That's why when this cover released, I take my time to embrace some defects that may appeared on the cover song. This is because seldom a cover can best the original.  Btw, why I like Ray is because Bump of Chicken uses Miku. My fascination for that song is because the singer and Miku harmonization. Such a great technique that I haven't heard of before. May be someone already did it before Ray,  but for me it was my first-time hearing Miku incorporated as duet singer with a human. I know there is  a version without Miku . It's not bad, but the usage of Miku is what, for me, making this song special.  Btw, about the cover. I don't think there is a special mention. My note for this is about Suisei's voice. She needs to learn to soften her voice if she wants to sing with soft-spoken singers. Her voice is too heavy compared to other members.  To get my point, the most obvious is at 3:37 . We can compare this...

PT Hung-A Exits and The Narratives Created

A Tyre manufacturer, PT Hung-A Indonesia, just laid off one and a half thousands of its employees . The company was running in 33 years. Many speculations arose surrounding this big company's exit. Let's put the facts first. PT Hung-A Indonesia is moving to Vietnam. The closing of Indonesian manufacture is an exit strategy to move the production to a Vietnam's factory. Why making such move? They were sinking. The production line is no longer profitable in Indonesia. They couldn't make the tyres that the client wants. The tyre manufacturer was waiting for import license. They couldn't make another plant. They need to import more components. They were waiting for that permission . TBH, I couldn't blame the government for why the permission was not issued. I have no data to back up the blame. May be there was something that was not permitted. Now let's go discuss the BS analytics! One of the rumors created was because the labor cost. So many comments on the I...

Preserving A Language with Foreign Alphabet System

An Indonesian area, Bau-bau, try to preserve its ingenious language Cia-cia using Hangul (a Korean alphabets). This is a good example in modern time where a culture imported foreign system and adapt them to their own culture. They borrow the letters but not the language. It happens since ancient time. The ancient Greeks adopting the Phonecian alphabet. The Japanese adapted the Kanji from the Tang dynasty. Bahasa Indonesia imported Latin characters as their written expression. Now it happened again in the modern time for Baubau people. Although it raises a concern from nationalists, the usage of Hangul is justified to preserve the pronunciation. As a commenter, @seokjinnie761, in that video explained: For those of you asking why didn't they choose to modify Latin alphabet instead? The answer is, they could. But there are some problems related to its changing phonetics. Check out this letter ㅍ, called pieup. Both Korean and Cia Cia speakers pronounce this letter as an aspirate...

【Original Song】 Moona Hoshinova - Taut Hati, A good slice of life song

Moona Hoshinova just released a new original song called "Taut Hati" or "Linked Heart". It's an ode for her friendship with her two genmates, Iofi and Risu. The song describes how they always support each other. It's a feels good song. The song started with staccato guitar, a signature lightness in slice of life. Later, it would build up with piano, light drum play and finger flick as main snare. Why is this so special and feels repeatable for me? It's because most of the instruments are real instruments! I feel need to appreciate the song because of that. The bass random distortion, especially in the slide portion, feels really personal. I don't think this kind of bass can be reproduce with software. Rudy Zulkarnaen really played hard on this. I love how Ari Renaldi minimized the compression to allow the natural sound of the bass. When I tried to compare with Tulus' Hati-hati di Jalan, the bass has less treatment. It has less reverb. For the ...

Anya Melfissa - Phony [cover]

Anya Melfissa's Phony is the best version for me. I don't like the original which is a vocaloid song. My ears still can't get used to the uncanny way the song expressed by the vocaloid mixer.  However, Anya Melfissa really made this song enjoyable for me. Here's the reason: Her nasal voice makes an uncanny voice which really blends well with the music. However, the overall sound itself feels natural for my ear. Her way of singing feels sinical and self-deprecating. Really made me feel the intention of the song. I do read the lyric translation and I feel her voice really express this one.  Yes, I do listen to all the other covers including Suisei's version. My vote goes to Anya for the best Phony cover.

Moona - High Tide (Remastered)

Moona Hoshinova of Hololive Indonesia produced an EP with High Tide being remastered. High Tide was her song created with ZSunder as producer. The song was using K/DA as inspiration. It also became the highlight of the Holofest 3rd concert in the first day. Enough with the trivia. I feel the remastered version is a degraded version. I feel the original is way better.  Before the critic, the improvement for Moona's pronunciation in the remastered version is a good thing. The remastered version feels like has faster tempo. This makes the main vocal and the backup singer out-of-sync. I'm inclined to believe that Moona lost the raw Master recording and put the flavor on top of that. Oh, the echoing reverb on the voice feels too much for me. I think the remastered want to convey the lingering feelings from the reverb, especially in the pre-chorus. However, I feel that is not needed, I prefer the Hall reverb in the original is best. All in all, I feel the original is better. If Mo...
